Billionaires started a class war. Americans must fight back.

“For the economic policies”: the reason you may no longer have any rights
↙︎
—
I accidentally engaged with some US election coverage in the last 24 hours. Amidst flitting between various streaming services, noticing how absolutely appalling US news actually is – dripping with hegemony, the one resounding quote that has stuck in my brain like a shard of glass is: “people voted for Donald Trump this election because above all else, rights issues notwithstanding, they knew the economy was more important”. I mean what an absolutely ratshit interpretation of the platform Trump was running on. Results be damned, there is absolutely nothing in the republican party that signals “good economic management” rather, they run the economy into the ground, punish working folks, destroy the environment, and revoke liberal rights through overactive and deeply “involved” government. I don’t even FEEL like doing analysis today, but let’s go anyway: The media’s portrayal of *the economy* as both a natural phenomenon a...

Trump warns voters that his second term would get ‘nasty’ at times
↗︎
↳ Yeah I think the Americans have the world’s most severe case of collective masochism, which spills out onto the rest of the world as punishment too. Minorities, the marginalised and women will suffer for the decisions made in America given it appears Trump will win, and he communicated it plainly in advance. — -

How are racehorses really treated in the ‘sport of kings’?
↗︎
↳ Any “sport” involving animals is fundamentally predicated on torture and exploitation. The same way capitalists torture workers. But animals cannot collectively organise and so conditions never improve. We need an end to inhumane animal treatment and sport and gambling based on their exploitation… like, yesterday. — -
Striking New York Times tech workers ask people not to play Wordle or other NYT games

The average age of U.S. homebuyers jumps to 56—homes are ‘wildly unaffordable’ for young people
↗︎
↳ No way. Fake market designed to exploit and ensure wage slavery, leveraged almost exclusively by the extremely wealthy to get richer, is completely unaffordable to regular folks? — -
US Space Force warns of “mind-boggling” build-up of Chinese capabilities

↳ Warmongering. And Ars and FT are utterly complicit in it — this is nothing more than drumming up fear to validate military spending instead of, say, healthcare, climate action, and world peace. — -
Anyone Who Supports Terrorist Organisations Should Be Deported, Swedish Migration Minister Says
↗︎
↳ Western and European nations are all contorting themselves to ban public expression, protest, and desperately cling to their hegemony. This, among many others, is a sign of capitalism’s inevitable decay into fascism — make no mistake, this move is exclusively to support israhell’s actions and expand and protect the colonial project, not to “be rid of terrorists”. p.s. this proposed law is also racist. — - From November 4, 2024: Join mind reader’s free community of radical thinkers analysing capitalism’s contradictions and imagining better futures. Singing gently to my soul: on youth alienation and precarity under late capitalism
↙︎
—
What the heck do I have in store for you today? Well naturally I have been enjoying pop music and thinking about the “climate” that the youth of today are experiencing. Okay, so, I can’t exactly claim to be vibin’ with the zeitgeist but I can give you a copy-paste of some song lyrics: > They say these are the golden years > > But I wish I could disappear > > Ego crush is so severe > > God, it's brutal out here Let’s go hard, or go home, straight out of the gate. The contradictions of youth culture under capitalism present themselves starkly in the simultaneous valorisation and exploitation of “youth rebellion”. Just think about popular (youth) culture. What begins as authentic resistance [1] – in music, art, fashion, or digital spaces – is rapidly co-opted by capital and transformed into commodified aesthetic facsimiles stripped of transformative potential. You only wanted to participate in c...

Downsizing the Australian dream: why families are trading houses with backyards for apartments
↗︎
↳ Bourgeois reporting. Do you think it has to do with the incredible inaffordability of housing? The complete erosion of leisure time for the working class? Massive monetary, climate, and toxic work struggles we face coupled with the growing despotism of the capitalists to force us in to prison cell living has nothing to do with it. Garden go brrr. — -
‘Death is everywhere’: fears grow that Israel plans to seize land in Gaza
↗︎
↳ You mean the racist, genocidal, maniacal and evil colonial state of israhell that has been indiscriminately bombing children and hospitals in two sovereign nations … is just doing a land grab? Maybe we can hope that this is the mainstream media finally conceding the hegemonic cover of mass murder? — -
