Voters Chose to Protect Abortion Even When They Didn't Choose Kamala Harris
↗︎
↳ The same people who voted for abortion protections also voted for trump. The cognitive dissonance is insane. There will be absolutely no healthcare under trump — except for the mega rich. — -
Trump’s victory adds record $64bn to wealth of richest top 10

↳ This is all they ever mean when they say “fix the economy”. They mean take your value and hand more of it to musk and co — you lose more so 10 fucked people may win a little more. — - From November 7, 2024: Like what you’re reading? Israeli government celebrates Trump's election triumph

“For the economic policies”: the reason you may no longer have any rights
↙︎
—
I accidentally engaged with some US election coverage in the last 24 hours. Amidst flitting between various streaming services, noticing how absolutely appalling US news actually is – dripping with hegemony, the one resounding quote that has stuck in my brain like a shard of glass is: “people voted for Donald Trump this election because above all else, rights issues notwithstanding, they knew the economy was more important”. Trump warns voters that his second term would get ‘nasty’ at times
↗︎
↳ Yeah I think the Americans have the world’s most severe case of collective masochism, which spills out onto the rest of the world as punishment too. Minorities, the marginalised and women will suffer for the decisions made in America given it appears Trump will win, and he communicated it plainly in advance. — -

How are racehorses really treated in the ‘sport of kings’?
↗︎
↳ Any “sport” involving animals is fundamentally predicated on torture and exploitation. The same way capitalists torture workers. But animals cannot collectively organise and so conditions never improve. We need an end to inhumane animal treatment and sport and gambling based on their exploitation… like, yesterday. — -
Striking New York Times tech workers ask people not to play Wordle or other NYT games

The average age of U.S. homebuyers jumps to 56—homes are ‘wildly unaffordable’ for young people

US Space Force warns of “mind-boggling” build-up of Chinese capabilities

↳ Warmongering. And Ars and FT are utterly complicit in it — this is nothing more than drumming up fear to validate military spending instead of, say, healthcare, climate action, and world peace. —
