Renters in some cities forced to spend on average nearly $15,000 more a year on rent since the Covid pandemic

↳ Fuck landlords, corporate developers, and the government for this. Leeches. We’ll never see a change to this either, while capitalist mega landlord Albo is at the helm. — -
Livestock is the single biggest emitter of methane

↳ Factory farming, animal agriculture, and massified systems of food production are some of the most toxic, climate and ecology destroying, absolute nightmares of cruelty on this planet. If you consume animal products from these industries, don’t. — -

Making meaning at the end of time

I have been necessarily pondering “end times” – conceptually a troubling thought. We’re seeing the slow motion collapse of ecology, social fabric, and empire. However, we are not seeing, as Marx and Engels infamously foretold, the end of capital concomitant with these collapses. Major papers are giving Trump’s Jan. 6 indictment dramatically less attention than they did Clinton’s server

Florida criminalized homelessness. Then came hurricanes Helene and Milton.
↗︎
↳ The anti-human, utter bullshit, and disgustingly capitalist nature of “criminalising” homelessness is unparalleled. Humans are already the only species stupid enough to let the 1% force us to enter endless servitude to live – now it’s killing us more. — -
The Internet Archive is under attack, with a breach revealing info for 31 million accounts

↳ The internet archive is one of very few contemporary cultural preservation platforms, not to mention useful for bypassing censorship and doing research. This site needs our support, fuck the assholes making their lives harder. — -
Alicia thinks she will be killed by her controlling ex. She says police won’t listen until ‘there’s a dead body’
↗︎
↳ The cops ain’t making money off it, and their buddies and them are perpetrating it, they’re only here to guard capitalism, not the people. This is a very sick and very real problem particularly in this country where an abhorrent number of women are killed by men — and Albanese does absolutely nothing. — -
Why are Democrats tarred as elites when the world’s richest man funds Trump?
